Sunbathing is used for the treatment of wood not only because that seemed like the old, but also to make it more durable. Tans fence posts, which are hammered into the ground, the Indians have the tips of their spears sunbathing and thus fastened by fire. The renovation of old houses are preserved beams, which were not affected by rot or mildew, formerly also sunbathed.
When sunbathing wood is a chemical reaction and then the wood is stronger and more durable. It is not therefore the structuring due to the appearance, but in order to prolong the life of the wood.
